Gorillas of Rwanda

Who would have thought I would be able to hike 3 1/2 hours up from 7,000 ft. elevation to 9,000 ft. thru all kinds of bamboo forest and overgrown mountain brambles?????? I did 3 different hikes and brought back some incredible images of gorillas of all sizes. From the biggest Silver Back to a new born that was brought into the world the morning of our hike.

Vermont adventure

>
I had the chance to visit the fall colors of Vermont this past week, visiting my cousin Sandy's new beautiful log cabin home. The trees were not in full color because of the big rain the week before, but Vermont and the Mad River Valley was still very colorful. I loved my visit. When we were out and about we came across Scottish Highlander cows. They are so cool.

Western Tanager

We can travel all around the world for beautiful images to photograph. But we have fantastic images right near to where we live, The Santa Cruz Mountains is a great place to begin. Carmel Valley another spot to view a variety of birds! The WESTERN TANAGER IS AN EXAMPLE.
For more information about finding birds or how to attract them to your own backyard you can now find me at Los Gatos Bird Watcher, and if I'm not there the rest of the staff is fantastic.

Harbor Seal

A Harbor Seal pup before changing color. So cute I wanted to get out of the Zodiac and pet it.

Elkhorn Slough

One of my favorite outings is to get my Zodiac ready and head for Elkhorn Slough with a friend or two. Every outing is different, we never know what wildlife we will see. Last week was fantastic, a mother otter and her pup, a baby Harbor Seal, and flocks of white Pelicans.

Western Tanager

I have lived in the Santa Cruz Mountains for 39 years and have only seen a Western Tanager once.On a recent photography workshop in Carmel Valley I had the experience of photographing one the most beautiful of all birds. Of course it meant that I was up at 5 am, in a blind from 6 am til 12:30, and quiet all that time. If you know me and my gift to gab then you know the challenge I experienced.

American Bald Eagle

If I were a Salmon trying to make my way up river to spawn and saw this eagle with a 10 foot wing span I believe I would just hide under the nearest rock!

Horsetail Fall

When people look at this image they remark about the time they came to Yosemite to see the famous Fire Fall. A huge fire was built at the top of Glacier Point and at a given signal, after the singing of Indian Love Call at Camp Curry, the fire was pushed over the edge, creating a water fall of fire. It was stopped in the 60's and now people can now see nature's fire fall.
Two weeks out of the year, at sun set, off the east buttress of El Capitan, and depending upon the weather, this spectacular phenomenon take place.
I have been 5 times to photograph Horsetail Fall and still never get tired of watching "it" happen.

Early morning in Haines, Alaska, while waiting for the sunrise this orange glow appeared in the trees. We watched and photographed as it moved across the river.
